Recap:

Yesterday we explored the pivotal role of goal-setting in steering the course of our lives.

Lesson:

Today, you’re going to get clarity on your goals by putting them onto paper.

In fact, you’re not just going to write down your goals—you’re going to write an entire vision for your life. And don’t worry, it’ll be fun 😂

Think of this process like building your own video game character.

In every great adventure, characters have skills, face challenges, and embark on epic quests. This is your chance to script the adventure of your life.

  1. 🧐 What skills do you want to have? - This is about envisioning the abilities and competencies you dream of developing. Do you want to become a skilled communicator, a proficient coder, or perhaps an expert in a foreign language? Imagine the skills that would make your life's journey more exciting and fulfilling.
  2. 👾 What challenges do you want to face? - Every hero's journey involves overcoming obstacles. What are the challenges you're eager to tackle? These could be professional hurdles, personal growth obstacles, or even physical feats. Think about what would make your journey interesting and how overcoming these challenges could transform you.
  3. ⚡️️ What epic quests are you going to undertake? - Your life's quests are your big goals and aspirations. They could be career milestones, personal development goals, or adventures like traveling the world. These are the significant objectives that will guide your path and give you a sense of purpose.

Before getting into the exercise though, let’s look at a few reasons why it’s important to write down your goals:

  1. 🧠 Clarity

Getting your goals out of your head and onto paper makes them real. Writing transforms abstract ideas into solid objectives.

  2. 🤝 Commitment

Research shows that the simple act of writing down a goal can increase the likelihood of it happening by up to 33%. Small commitments go a long way.

  3. 🔗 Congruence

When you write down the specific things you want in life, it drops a pin in your mind—a psychological North Star that subtly guides your actions in the direction of your goals. For example, if you want to be a Gymshark athlete—writing your goal down and creating a vision of yourself achieving it will subconsciously nudge you to take actions that align with that self-perception. You’ll find yourself reaching for a protein shake on a Friday night rather than a pint.

Ok, let’s start crafting a vision for your life.
